the average monday.

I would just like to say I love my roommate...beyond words. She provides me with comic relief every single day and here at college she is basically my other half. I love her dearly to the moon and back...especially when she gets me out of one of these babies....

A parking ticket. And yes one of them has my name on it because on Thursday I managed to get one of them. It's not like I needed the spot I was in that badly but obviously you aren't supposed to park in front of a meter. Note to self. Fifteen dollars right down the drain. But anyway, this morning Ashton came back from her 8:00 class and as my alarm went off at 9:05 she asked me where my car was. I soon, jumped out of bed because I realized that I was not parked in the correct spot. On the weekends you can park anywhere but on Monday morning at 7:00, your car has to be in the designated area. Basically, I was in freak out mode, not wanting to really pay another $15 for something that was totally preventable. So huffing and puffing, ill as a hornet I quickly got ready, went downstairs, and found my car. Luckily without a ticket on it! Thanks to Ashton, I was able to move my car before the little ECU policeman gave me another ticket. Continuing the excitement of the morning, lunch was no exception. Ashton and I met at the Croatan where she thought a someone was carrying around a huge flashlight, almost got her butt kicked by a girl with a big attitude, I put the drink in before the ice making Dr. Pepper go everywhere, and I was able to enjoy this song right here for a few minutes.
As we were walking to the gym, there was definitely some interesting things going down like an ECU police speeding off in his police car with the sirens on, only to later find out that he was going to the health place on campus. A group of guys was talking about KY jelly in nonchalant, I mean ok?? Then to top off the day...we played racquetball. We don't know the rules, at all. She about hit me like 70932895 times. I about peed in my pants 810183840 times because we are definitely not experts. But I researched the rules in case you wanted to play and get a workout at the same time.
Any new or interesting hobbies?

kryptonite.

coincidence: noun: a sequence of events that although accidental seems to have been planned or arranged.

Well today, Ashton and I have experienced coincidence with word right here...kryptonite.

kryptonite: noun: a fictional material that has a detrimental effect on Superman.

Yeah, random word that I can't even remember the last time I heard it or used it in a sentence. But this morning as Ashton and I were flipping through the channels all the way up in the 100's, yeah NOTHING was on, we heard "Kryptonite" by Three Doors Down. I hadn't heard this song so we decided to watch the video...which by the way is kind of weird.

"Kryptonite" was their first single released in 2000. A long time ago. It's so old I remember singing it on the school bus in third grade with the fifth graders on the way to my grandma's house. Ok, so then when I was catching up on my fellow bloggers this blog entry mentioned kryptonite. Yes, this word. Out of all of the words a person could possibly use, she used this one. In the blog that I had happen to be reading right after we had listened to the song. And  if that wasn't weird enough as we were watching "America's Funniest Home Videos" one came on and I quote "Superman is 99.9 percent indestructible. One of the things that can destroy him is kryptonite, and well this.." I tried to find the video but I wasn't able to find it. But it was showed a little boy, wearing a Superman costume who had gotten a toilet seat stuck on his head. It was pretty hilarious but again with the kryptonite.
Another small coincidence had been our experience is with this man...Ashton Kutcher.

One of my favorite actors, and the future husband of Ms. Marcie Matthews. In the past couple of days he has been on TV, EVERY TIME we turn it on! "What Happens In Vegas,""Guess Who?," "Valentine's Day," "That 70's Show", and the commercial I've seen a thousand and one times for a movie that I am going to watch eventually "No Strings Attached." Weird.
Speaking of "Valentines Day," there was yet another coincidence, this time with Emma Roberts. She of course was in this movie but also made a guest appearance on "Extreme Home Makeovers." This was a special episode, one that truly brought tears to my eyes, which doesn't take much, but one that really made me think of how something as small as a text message can truly impact your life. As you  watch this video just think about if that was your best friend? What would you do? Basic message...don't text and drive, I wouldn't be able to handle it if  I wasn't able to speak to any of  you again.

This isn't the one I was looking for but it works
It's weird how things tie together sometimes. Have any of you had any strange coincidences lately?

the average of 28.

Friday
So here's to the Friday of sleeping until 9:15 rolling out of bed, looking ah-mazing /: for my 10:00 chemistry class, grabbing a banana for breakfast, and managing to be 15 minutes early, which never happens. EVER. I was sitting there learning about the conversion of atoms to grams and such when a clicker question came up...so of course i needed to get out this $50 baby.
But to my dismay, I couldn't find it. STORY OF MY LIFE. My teacher bases attendance on whether you answer the question, so therefore, I wasn't there, technically. Well, I walk out of class and guess what I find? Yes, my clicker. Guess where it was...in my sweatshirt pocket! Yeah. Yeah. So then I went back to my dorm where I found little girl sleeping. I decide that it was probably a good idea to take a nap so I set my alarm for 12:43. I of course turn it off when it starts doing its terrible ring. Sleeping like rock, I didn't even wake to Evan beating on the door or slaps in my face but by Evan, Abby, and Katherine walking through the door yelling, wondering why we were still asleep at two in the afternoon. Well we decided to get up and did a whole lot of nothing, got ready, and I went bowling. The bowling alley on campus is only $2.50 per game and since I have my very own kicks, it was a pretty cheap weekend expense. I lost. Bad. It was fun though.
Process of getting ready.

Ashton taking foreverrrr

Going back to the dorm, Ashton made cookies and burnt her fingers since she insisted on holding the hot pan with a paper towel. This was probably one of the funniest moments of my life when she went sprinted across the room sliding across the floor to put the hot pan down. I laughed until I about peed in my pants. After she recovered though, the rest of the night was spent eating cookies, "Who's Line Is It Anyway?," Cosmo, Taboo cards, "Guess Who," and spending a few moments to look at this wonderful man in the movie, "Win A Date With Tad Hamilton."
Ahh yes, Josh Duhamel. It was a wonderful time, follow by late night conversation until 5:30 this morning where we discovered that Ashton had 18 to go on her list to reach average, and well I am a little behind with my total of 3 on my list, meaning I needed 25 more in only four more years. We have to get on it!

Saturday
Here's to today where I forced myself to get up and have lunch with my friend Evan, where viscosity was actually used in common conversation. Probably because the conversation wasn't the kind that someone would consider common on a regular basis since it consisted of different things we could swim in....butter, Dr.Pepper, spaghetti, syrup, ect. Yeah you never know what kinds of things you will be getting into when you talk to him. We came back up to the room, enjoyed some of these YouTube videos.

(Brett, it reminds me of you every time)

Then Ashton and I took a trip to Old Navy. Where I got these spectacular things and only had to pay $10 out of my own pocket since I had a gift card! Yay, I'm ready for Spring!
Oh and Ashton is my Valentine, forever and always, since frankly, some guys, definitely not all, are douche bags! Love you little girl (:

blog hold lifted.

So since the past two weeks or so I have not gotten to share any of the many activities that I have experienced I am pumped so yeah here it goes....

First the road trip.
It was MLK weekend and what could be a more perfect way to spend it than an App State trip that was long overdue. So Ashton and I left ECU, late might I add, due to my unnecessary overpacking abilities and headed to NC State to pick up Sidney and Maggie then off to Boone we went.
looking a little rough but what can you expect from a four hour ride

That night we got ready and went to Makadoos, which is fantastic by the way. This is where I had an amazing chicken caesar salad and managed to knock over an entire pitcher of water all over the floor. It was another thing added to my long list of embarrassing moments, but nonetheless it was pretty funny. Later that night, we braved the snowy hills of App's apartment complexes and visited some of Katie's friends. This is where we met some really fun people and I got my phone locked up. Completely. Just an fyi, if you find a phone that has a password, DON'T try to get into it!

Saturday, since my phone was totally messed up I spent the majority of the day getting acquainted with the company of Verizon. Now if you have never spent some quality time with this company's employees either on the phone or in the store, you really must. We managed to get real close and almost developed long lasting relationships while they ran through troubleshooting at least 12 times, directed me back and forth between each other, and came to the conclusion that the problem was because of the g-mail account that I never used, didn't seem to be working. Well wouldn't you think that they could just reset my phone? Of course not. They couldn't do anything and they eventually had to send me another phone. So after that fantastic waste of 4 hours of my life Sidney, Katie, Emily, and I went back to the dorm, got ready, and went to Pizza Hut. This is where, the waiter, who looked about fifteen years old on a good day flirted real hard. After we left Pizza Hut we had a great rest of the night, catching up with old new friends and meeting other ones.

On Sunday morning we woke up and realize that guess what? My car was dead! Imagine that. So we had to walk to the awesome church service that had a pretty funny pastor. After church we walked around the stores on King Street where Sidney got a brand new App sweatshirt, Katie wanted to get dream catchers?, we took some candy from the Mass General Store, and bonded over $1 dollar, old school drinks. Aimlessly walking around with those two girls is one of my favorite activities of all time. Since there was a chance of snow, Sidney, Ashton, Maggie, and I decided that we could spend the night at home before going back to school. Crazy thing is Katie and Emily wanted to join so that meant six of us in my little sentra. yessss! So after getting all of our stuff together, thirty minutes of trying to jump off my car with 2 foot jumper cables, and a couple of nice fellas later we were finally on the road, back down the mountain.

Second, the trip to Hibachi Express.
So since "The Galley" and the dining hall food was getting extremely overrated and the intense cravings of Japanese food were impending, this little girl and I decided that we were going to go to Hibachi Express. To make a long story short, it was a-mazing!

Ashton's delicious food, my leftovers later in the week (:

my food...yumm!

After returning back to to our dorm, we had to start the activity that the orange side of out personalities had prevented us from starting on time...homework. To make this dreadful experience a little bit less terrible we decided to watch "My Strange Addictions" on TLC. For those of you who have not seen this show, the title explains itself but it features people that have unorthodox habits like eating couch cushions and wearing fur suits. Yeah, weird but nevertheless entertaining, and provided us with comic relief.

sneak peak

Third, Polar Bear Plunge.
"The Polar Bear Plunge, which started in 1997 as part of the Grand Opening celebration for Campus Recreation and Wellness, is an annual event during which students brave the frigid January weather to jump into the freezing water of the outdoor swimming pool at the rec center. The first year, 35 people participated.
This year marked the 15th year of the Polar Bear Plunge, and the number of participants has soared each year. A record-breaking 958 jumpers participated this year, according to associate director for Campus Recreation and Wellness, David Gaskins. This year’s turnout shattered last year’s record of 702."

Yeah, so guess what...Ashton and I went and met my friend Steven there, in hopes to get a Polar Bear Plunge shirt. Freezing, is an understatement and I'm pretty sure I hopped right out of the ice cold water (literally) in .2 seconds. We did get a shirt, but not the one we had hoped for. It was a 3XL ECU shirt I already had that I could 27.3 of me in. We didn't get there in time, probably because Ashton made us late but it was still fun.
 before...

after...

Fourth, Chilis dinner.
So here at ECU they have built a new food place, "The Croatan"(terrible name I know) conveniently located closer to my dorm. SCORE! But it has a Chick-fil-a and can you believe it?! Yes, thats right a Chilis To-Go. So these lovely ladies and I took a trip to this awesome place and had some delicious food.

Fifth, the night of Paranormal Activity 2 and Taboo.
So since there was nothing better to do on a Saturday night, the roomie, Val, Cori, and I took a trip to Hendrix Theater where the movies are FREE. Yeah, thats right. We watched Paranormal Activity 2 and I was cracking up or sleeping the whole time. We came back to the dorm and played some Taboo. Greatest game ever. Room against room. Cori and Val against Ashton and Morgan. Final score 28-27. Them. We lost. Oh well. Hilarious.

Well thats all for now.

blog hold.

So apologies for not updating the blog lately but it appears as though my new pictures won't show up when uploading my pictures so....no new blogs for now.

noise complaint.

So i gotta question...why is it that it is currently 12:43 am and there is an array of unnecessary noises coming from the back of my dorm? I understand that this is a college campus and most people do not go to bed at 8:30 because frankly it's pretty much when the night gets started. But come on, revving your engine for the past ten minutes...is that really necessary? Blaring rap music and echoing conversation that I, personally could go without hearing especially when I'm trying to complete my discussion board for English but can't seem to concentrate because "Teach Me How To Dougie" and something obviously freaking funny is going on outside. AND I didn't know that inventory for "The Galley" downstairs had to come at this time in the morning? Imagine that. Anyway, good thing imma hard sleeper otherwise, I think these noises would bother me a little bit more. Hahaha.

1.12.2011

thanks mom.

So this woman right here...
Yeah, I miss her a lot especially since I don't get to see her face everyday. Needless to say, she has yet to disappoint with the encouraging e-mails and phone calls she sends my way regularly. Today's e-mail really hit me. Basically, this is what I got from it...God throws us obstacles, our faith is tested, and there are many times that we are too quick to give up on that faith when we are faced with the disappointment of how things didn't go our way. Even though we prayed really hard that something would turn out a certain way maybe God has a better plan for our lives that we can't see. Maybe, since the maker of the universe made well, everything, he has an idea of what can work out even better than what we come up with ourselves. We need to have patience and faith (both of which I struggle with) that God will reveal himself in the midst of the defeat and disappointment that we feel when our prayers aren't answered "perfectly." Perhaps, it is during these times that we can truly witness the miracle-working power of God in our lives. So...
"Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding."
-Proverbs 3:5
And when that trust in the Lord is being tested..
“Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord, no matter what happens.  Remember the great reward it brings you!”
-Hebrews 10:35
I aspire to obtain the genuine faith in God like you have, to be able to simply rely on God for everything life throws your way. Even when life wasn't always great, you were there for me waiting. I love you mom, you're nothing short of my hero.

birthday wishes.

So today, January 9, 2011 this guy is turning 21....

21. As in two decades plus one. 100-79. Twenty-one. Like one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, twenty-one. Of course he doesn't really get excited well, at all that it's his birthday but I guess thats what I'm for, to get freaking pumped for him.

I got to know you as a seventeen year old senior in high school and now you're freaking 21, a completely legal adult. Someone who is going to be graduating at the end of this year to start your real life as a legit grown-up. Leaving your past behind you and moving forward onto bigger and better things. I am so glad that you were such a big part of my life the past three or so years. You have taught me so many things and whether you know it or not, you have pushed me to be a better person. I now realize what it feels like to be truly loved by someone and what it feels to love someone whole heartedly in return. I appreciate what it means to have a best friend, someone you can go to about anything and everything, someone who will listen to me be ridiculous for hours. We went through a lot and I just want to say thank you for being there, creating inside jokes with me, being brave for me, being the one I could completely count on, introducing me to your wonderful family, and letting me become part of your life. I'll always be here for you, no matter what. Happy 21st birthday kid (:

PS- guess what...

1.03.2011

reality check.

First of all I was late to church, due to my terrible sense of laziness and turning off my alarm without resetting it. So I didn’t have time to take a shower and had barely enough time to pull myself together and look presentable. Needless to say, my morning was a bit stressful. But after sitting in the pew listening to my pastor preach I began to reflect...

Over the past couple months I have caught myself, more times than I am proud of, wallowing in self-pity. Feeling sorry for myself that life has thrown me the many curveballs it has. Finding myself questioning God and being extremely impatient with his plan for my life. Having a hard time trying to figure out things that didn’t necessarily go my way all the time. Complaining that I had to put forth so much effort to complete tasks that others had no problem doing. Not sharing and ministering to as many people as I could have. Frankly, failing God throughout this year due to the fact that I have been completely selfish. Not recognizing what all God has blessed me with but rather getting caught up in all obstacles that I have had to work through. Taking a step back, I recognize that these are some of the only times I am on my knees, having no where else to turn, and where I am sadly closest to God. The hard times are inevitable. I can either rise above the struggles or stay stagnant, which from previous experiences for me gets me nothing more than swollen eyes and a headache. I’ve realized that no matter how bad I have it, someone always has it worse than me. So after today’s well deserved slap in the face, this is all going to change.
